Art Thrives in the Cold...Openings in the Burg on December 6th, 2010

Kathleen Walsh, myself, and Scarlett Suhy-Pons at Kathleen's opening at Kybecca on William St. on 12-6-10.

Kathleen has moved into my old studio #3 at LibertyTown and shares her love of peaceful oil landscapes and plein air painting. A must-see show that is up through January 2011. Also the same evening, right across the street at Bistro Bethem, fellow artist Susan Ishii

opened her solo show of oil paintings. Her realistic still life, landscapes, portraits, and figure studies share vibrant light and color. With each painting she delivers a clarity that an artist can only accomplish after mastering his or her palette. Your children will enjoy the terrior sporting a general's coat in a formal pose! I adore the woman sleeping on ice over the bar area. This show is up through January 2011 also. She is leading a figure drawing class from live models at Read All Over Books on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-9 pm. - adults only, $15 a session. Please see her blog for more information.

Here are our 5th graders Dylan, David, and Gib learning to throw basic pots on our wheels in the new clay room! Our goal: mugs by each student by June 1st.

Mixed media dolls for the holidays made by students from FA in private classes at my studio on Sophia Street- the wings are magnolia leaves frosted white.

Thank you for the great visit, Rob!
Rob Landeck's recycled sculptures were enjoyed by all 4th and 5th grade Fredericksburg Academy students as we learned about symbols and techniques he uses in his work. Kids got right to work carving styrofoam and printing them. November 2010
